Every recruiting class has them: The household names who are tracked breathlessly, who can send a fan base into a whirlwind with one cryptic tweet, who become water-cooler (i.e., message board) fodder because of two things: They’re really damn good — and they’re uncommitted. As 2027 recruiting hits the spring slate of visits, 247Sports is profiling a slew of these players in the War Daddy series as our analysts handicap far-and-wide recruiting battles and tell you why these players matter on a national scale.
Abraham Sesay is unique, and it goes beyond his five-star status.
The edge rusher from Exton (Pa.) Downingtown East is 6-foot-5, 215 pounds of athleticism, talent and work ethic, a highly coveted pass rusher who could be a difference maker while eschewing the pressures many other prospects succumb to.
In fact, Sesay is so good, so talented, he is dictating the timing of his recruitment rather than being forced to make a decision by schools before he wants to.
If you really want to know how different his recruitment is, he does not have an agent.
The finalists are LSU, Notre Dame, Duke and Florida State while Penn State continues to hang around.
He made visits in the winter and spring, and the No. 22 player and top uncommitted edge rusher in the 2027 class said he was pressured by programs to make an easy decision but is sticking to his original plan.
“I had a plan going into my recruitment that I wanted to make a decision in the summer,” said Sesay, who is the No. 5 edge rusher.
“I wanted to put my full focus on my commitment, and my full focus on school. If I commit during the school time, I feel like that will take my focus away from school when I am trying to finish strong.”
