Tottenham Hotspur are now in contact with another attacking star, who could arrive if they miss out on Manchester City’s Savinho this summer.
The Lilywhites have been interested in the Man City man since last year and have reportedly reignited their interest after avoiding relegation on the final day of last season.
Tottenham set to make shock move for England U21 star after Van Hecke
Spurs are extremely busy in the early stages of the transfer window.
Whether they’re priced out of a move yet again is the big question. It was only a year ago that Man City rejected Spurs’ offer worth around £43m and even after Savinho’s relatively poor season, the Citizens could maintain their hefty price.
If their business so far is anything to go by, however, then Tottenham are unlikely to waste any time. They’ve already swooped in to sign Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson on free deals, and are in talks to sign Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton & Hove Albion.
Those in North London are laser focused on rebuilding Roberto De Zerbi a side capable of achieving more than just Premier League safety. They’re building a side hoping to never see the bottom three again and that could continue even if Savinho doesn’t arrive this summer.

Tottenham launch approach to sign Bundesliga star
As reported by The Athletic, Tottenham have made contact with Jean-Matteo Bahoya and his representatives over a potential summer move. They are yet to make a formal offer or contact with Eintracht Frankfurt, but reports that they have approached the winger’s agent suggests that he is very much one to watch.
As a Savinho alternative, Bahoya is one that would need to find his best form before any verdict can arrive. He scored four goals and assisted another four in Germany last season and still has plenty to prove at 21 years old.
“Jean-Mattéo Bahoya is one of the most promising young talents in France, and fits the profile we were looking for. His pace and directness in the final third will be a boon for our attack.” – Markus Krösche, Frankfurt board member for sport
The Frenchman has certainly earned high praise in the Bundesliga. It’s why he’s now on Spurs’ radar and why he could yet become their next addition.
Adding young players to De Zerbi’s side is far from a bad idea, too. North London remains an excellent place to develop rising stars, especially at a time when established stars are struggling to steal the right headlines.
