Arsenal prepare Bradley Barcola bid as PSG eye Rogers and Alvarez

Arsenal‘s summer transfer strategy continues to focus heavily on adding more firepower to a squad that is determined to stay at the top of English football.

Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta have spent much of the last few weeks assessing attacking targets capable of taking the team to another level.

Two names that have been heavily linked are Julian Alvarez and Morgan Rogers.

Former Man City striker Alvarez has long been admired by key figures at the Emirates and remains one of the most complete forwards available on the market.

Rogers, meanwhile, is one of the Premier League’s most exciting attacking talents after another outstanding campaign for Aston Villa, and the England star is apparently very keen to join Arsenal this summer.

Interest in both players has been widely reported throughout the summer thus far.

Now, PSG have also been credited with an interest in both Alvarez and Rogers by The Independent’s Miguel Delaney.

That overlap in targets could create an intriguing battle between two of Europe’s biggest clubs over the coming weeks, with one of PSG’s own stars also a key Arsenal target.

That is according to a report from The Independent’s Delaney once more, who says that Arsenal are exploring the details of a potential move for Bradley Barcola.

The France international has become one of the most sought-after wingers in European football, and scored against Senegal as France beat the Africans 3-1 at the World Cup on Tuesday.

Liverpool are also understood to be monitoring the situation closely, meaning Arsenal could face serious competition if they decide to progress their interest.

However, The Independent claim Arsenal are looking into the finances as they prepare a possible offer for Barcola, and it is not ruled out that the 23-year-old could be signed alongside Rogers.

Arteta’s side are believed to be prioritising more firepower, and Barcola is viewed as one of their top targets.

Barcola is believed to carry a valuation of around £87 million, making him one of the most expensive players Arsenal have considered this summer.

Such a deal would represent a major statement of intent from the Premier League champions, with Arteta repeatedly speaking about the need to keep evolving despite recent success.

Adding a player of the Frenchman’s calibre would certainly fit that ambition.

Barcola has racked up 39 goals and 37 assists in 152 total appearances for PSG despite his young age, with the ex-Lyon star scoring in both Champions League last 16 legs against Chelsea last term and notching an assist away to Liverpool in the quarters.

The versatile forward also finished 25/26 as PSG’s top scorer in Ligue 1.
