Nottingham Forest have now submitted an offer to sign a Serie A star, who Evangelos Marinakis personally wants to sign this summer.
The Greek owner is rarely quiet in the transfer window and that is unlikely to change in the coming months. He’s already reportedly demanding a British record to sell Elliot Anderson to Manchester City and could instantly put that money to good use at the City Ground.
Of course, if Anderson does leave, then finding a replacement will be the top priority for all involved at the Midlands club. And that won’t be an easy task, either. The England international is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
That won’t stop Forest from trying, however, and they’ve already got their sights set on Inter Milan’s Davide Frattesi and Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney.
The latter is a particularly impressive option after dominating in the Championship before suffering Wembley heartbreak last season. If anyone has earned the chance to make an impact in the top flight, it is Hackney.
Once Anderson is replaced, Forest’s attention could turn towards their frontline. Following a tough campaign last time out, the Tricky Trees will be keen to find their attacking spark in the form of reinforcements.

Nottingham Forest open talks to sign Serie A star
As reported by Tuttosport in Italy, and relayed by Sport Witness, Nottingham Forest launched an offer to sign Alieu Njie from Torino, only for the Italian club to “immediately” respond by rejecting their bid.
Marinakis is a fan of the 21-year-old winger and wants to sign him for Forest or for Rio Ave this summer. To do that, however, he’ll need to make a “substantial” offer worth at least €15m (£13m).
The ball is now in Forest’s court. £13m should be an affordable price, even if Torino deem it “substantial” and that gives Marinakis plenty to think about.
They must consider whether Njie is worth the money. This is a young player who they’re planning to loan straight out to Portugal if they secure his signing. They must deem whether such a player is worth £13m.
With just two goal involvements in Italy last season, it’s clear that Njie would need a lot of development before making any impact in the Premier League.
