Glasgow Rangers are looking to bolster their attacking options at the top end of the pitch for Derek McInnes during the summer transfer window.

The Light Blues have already brought in Lawrence Shankland on a permanent deal from Hearts to add to their centre-forward options, after he scored 16 goals in the Scottish Premiership last season.

As someone who has already worked with McInnes, the Scotland international should be expected to hit the ground running at Ibrox in the 2026/27 campaign.

Shankland may not be the only Premiership star signed up by the Ibrox giants this summer, though, as the club are also reportedly keen on Motherwell’s Elijah Just.

The Gers are said to be battling it out with Celtic to sign the right-sided attacker after he returns from the World Cup with New Zealand, as they both look for new wingers.

Rangers making big push for Premier League forward

Just scored seven goals and provided seven assists in the Premiership for Motherwell in the 2025/26 campaign, and scored twice in the World Cup against Iran earlier this month.

Whilst the New Zealand international looks like an exciting player who could be a great addition to McInnes’ squad, the club are looking at another forward who is an even bigger talent.

According to TEAMtalk, Glasgow Rangers are interested in bringing Mikey Moore back to Ibrox from Tottenham Hotspur for a second loan spell in the summer transfer window.

The report claims that the Light Blues are set to make a big push to re-sign the England U20 international, after he spent last term on loan with the Scottish giants.

It adds that the Premier League side are expected to make a decision on where they will send him on loan as soon as next week, as they continue to assess what would be the best next step for his development.

TEAMtalk reveals that Moore is keen to return to Glasgow and believes that it would be good for his career, and Rangers will be hoping that gives them the edge in the race to sign him this summer.

Why Mikey Moore is a bigger talent than Elijah Just

Whilst it is entirely plausible that the Light Blues sign both of them, the club should prioritise a deal to sign Moore ahead of Just because he is an even bigger talent.

The English youngster is eight years younger than the New Zealand international and has far more potential to explode as a superstar in the Premiership next season.

After a slow start to life at Ibrox under Russell Martin, the 18-year-old became an important player for Danny Rohl and scored in two games against Celtic in the second half of the season. His rise was so steep that during his time in Ibrox, he was being valued at £40m in some circles.

Given the difference in the number of games that they started, Moore’s attacking output in the Premiership last season was very similar to Just’s, certainly when it came to scoring goals.

The Motherwell star is in the peak years of his career, at 26, but he has yet to deliver more than seven goals or seven assists in a single league season in his professional career to date.

Meanwhile, Moore, at the age of 18, just scored seven goals in 25 league starts in his first season of playing regular first-team football, which speaks to the difference in potential between the two players.

The teenage ace, described as a “future superstar” by former Spurs man Gary Mabutt, scored 19 goals and provided 13 assists in 24 matches for Tottenham’s U18s before his first-team breakthrough.

His impressive numbers at youth level show that he does have the potential to score and assist goals even more regularly than he did in the Premiership last season, and he could get closer to unlocking his potential by returning to the Gers with a year of experience.

Just, meanwhile, does not have the numbers in his career, at youth or first-team level, to suggest that he has the same potential that Moore does, which is why the Spurs youngster would be an even better signing to bolster their wide options.
