Leeds United are closing in on their first signing of the summer after reaching an agreement to bring Harry Wilson to Elland Road on a free transfer.

The Wales international is set to join Daniel Farke‘s side when his Fulham contract expires at the end of the month.

Wilson arrives after enjoying arguably the most productive Premier League campaign of his career.

The 29-year-old scored 11 goals and registered nine assists in all competitions for Fulham last term, and his creativity was a major feature of the side throughout the campaign.

Wilson produced decisive moments against several of the Premier League’s biggest clubs.

One of his standout performances came against Tottenham when he scored from long range in a strike that went on to win the Premier League Goal of the Month award.

He also netted crucial goals against Brentford, Wolves, Liverpool and Chelsea as Fulham secured another comfortable mid-table finish.

Wilson finished the season having created dozens of chances from open play while remaining one of Fulham’s most reliable set-piece takers.

Xabi Alonso’s side are finally moving in the transfer market.

His experience is another factor Leeds believe will help them.

The winger made nearly 200 appearances for Fulham and has also plied his trade at Liverpool, Bournemouth, Derby County and Cardiff City before opting for Yorkshire.

Leeds had attempted to sign Wilson previously before a move failed to materialise.

This time, the Yorkshire club have won the race for his signature despite interest from several Premier League rivals.

Wilson is expected to become the first senior arrival of the summer as Farke continues reshaping his squad.

However, Leeds are not stopping there.

Strengthening the midfield has become another priority ahead of the new campaign, and Southampton midfielder Shea Charles has emerged as one of the club’s leading targets.

Farke’s side reportedly submitted a bid worth £20 million, and Southampton are understood to have informed Leeds that the proposal falls below their valuation.

Negotiations have continued between the two clubs as they attempt to find common ground.

There remains optimism that an agreement can still be reached if the structure of the deal is adjusted.

Charles is viewed as a player capable of adding both quality and long-term potential to Farke’s midfield.

Wilson’s arrival would add proven top-flight creativity and goals to the attack. Charles, meanwhile, is seen as one of the club’s leading midfield targets.

Why Leeds want to sign Shea Charles from Southampton

The Northern Ireland international impressed despite Southampton’s difficult season.

Charles combined his defensive qualities with increasing influence in possession throughout the Championship campaign.

After returning from injury in January, he made an immediate impact by helping Southampton beat Sheffield United before scoring a dramatic late winner in a 4-3 victory away at Leicester City in February.

He also produced one of the goals of the season when he found the net from around 35 yards against Oxford United.

That strike earned him the Championship Goal of the Month award for March.

Charles has continued to establish himself as one of the brightest young midfielders outside the Premier League.

His ability to operate as both a holding midfielder and a defender has made him an attractive option for Leeds, with the ‘class‘ 22-year-old’s composure on the ball also drawing praise.
