Leeds United were propelled to safety last season largely due to the brilliance of free transfer signing, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the Englishman scoring 14 Premier League goals following his arrival from Everton.
In a summer littered with statement striker signings, Calvert-Lewin may well have been the best of the bunch, looking back to his best after an injury-hit few years on Merseyside.
Now, Daniel Farke‘s side appear to have landed a similar coup amid the imminent capture of Harry Wilson, the 29-year-old set to join on a free upon the expiry of his Fulham contract at the end of the month.

Like Calvert-Lewin, the Welshman may not exactly be a glamour name, yet he ranked as arguably one of the standout players in the top flight last term, assuming talismanic status at Craven Cottage.
Bringing him to the Elland Road fold is a fine way to kick off the summer, with there potentially more where that came from by all accounts.
Leeds told they could see bid accepted for £20m star
The interest in Wilson has come amid a parallel move for fellow free agent, Julian Brandt, the German playmaker set to depart Borussia Dortmund after seven years at the club.
Acquiring the former Bayer Leverkusen man won’t be easy, however, while elsewhere, the Whites continue to press on in their bid to sign Southampton starlet, Shea Charles.
The suggestion is that the 49ers-backed side have already seen a £20m offer rejected for the young midfielder, with the Saints previously signing him from Manchester City in 2023 for a fee that could reach £15m.
Whether Leeds go back in for Charles remains to be seen, although, according to Football Insider, £20m could be enough to strike a deal for former loan star, Manor Solomon.
As per the report, the suggestion is that Tottenham Hotspur would be willing to cash in on the Israeli international, having only made five Premier League appearances for the club in three years.
The 26-year-old has spoken openly about his love for Leeds, following that season on loan in 2024/25, and with chances at a premium in north London, an Elland Road return could be on the cards.
Leeds could be set to sign Wilson 2.0 for Farke
Wilson departs the Cottagers off the back of arguably his finest season to date in west London, the Wales international scoring ten goals and registering seven assists in the Premier League.
Remarkably, that haul came despite him missing just a solitary ‘big chance’, while he created eight himself, such an asset either off the right or in a number ten berth.
Both a goalscorer and provider, Wilson is a real game-changer, the type of player who can win a game on his own, as seen in his array of spectacular finishes in a Fulham shirt.
That is certainly praise that could also be levelled at Solomon, the fleet-footed winger another sparkling, diminutive talent, one who made such an impact himself while at Leeds.
The 5 foot 7 speedster had joined the Yorkshire side after an injury-hit start to life at Spurs, with his initial move to north London coming about following his own fine form at Fulham.
In the 2022/23 campaign, Solomon scored four goals in just 19 Premier League games alongside Wilson and co, a solid return considering he had actually started only four times.
It was that brief purple patch, alongside his prior work at Shakhtar Donetsk, that convinced Farke and co to make their move in 2024, with Solomon not disappointing after playing a central role in the promotion push.
Across his 39 Championship outings that season, 30 of which came from the start, he scored and assisted 22 goals, while creating 21 ‘big chances’ from his left-wing role.
That isn’t too dissimilar to Wilson’s record during his most recent second-tier campaign in 2021/22, the left-footer registering 29 goals and assists for Bournemouth, while creating 18 ‘big chances’.
Slowly but surely, Wilson has replicated that form at Premier League level, creditably working his way back after failing to really make the grade at Liverpool.
Solomon’s own time among the elite hasn’t gone to plan at Spurs, but those at Leeds are fully aware of what he’s capable of, hailed as “unplayable” on his day by former Leeds boss Neil Redfearn.
He’s since endured difficult spells out on loan at Villarreal and Fiorentina, scoring just three league goals across 2025/26, yet returning to Elland Road could be the perfect way to get back firing again.
Indeed, the prospect of Solomon and Wilson lining up together next season is a truly exciting one for the Whites.
Instant Wilson upgrade: Leeds ready to sign future “world’s best player”
Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing a star who would be even better than Harry Wilson.
