Orlando (Fla.) The First Academy three-star cornerback Kamauri Whitfield is set to make his college decision live at 3:00 p.m. EST on the CBS Sports College Football Youtube Channel.
“It’s been a long process,” Whitfield said. “It took a lot of thought. But I’m excited. I’m glad I got to experience the process and finally shut it down to this one school.”
Whitfield, the third highest ranked uncommitted player in the state of Florida, will decide between three finalists: Florida, Nebraska and Oregon.
“It’s really the same with all the schools,” he said. “They were really heavily recruiting me, and they built good relationships with me.”
While the talented defender took official visits to all three schools, this race will truly come down to Florida and Nebraska.
The Cornhuskers has made a real run in this recruitment, especially after getting him on campus for an official visit in June. Florida remained a huge threat throughout mainly due to an all-out pursuit by head coach Jon Sumrall and his coaching staff.
Whitfield has settled on one school after thoroughly evaluating his options.
“I was evaluating, is this the place I want to be? I sat down and talked with my family about every school,” he said. “Is this the place I want to be for the next three years? I was really looking at the culture and continuing to build a relationship with the coaches.”
On the morning of his announcement day, the 247Sports Crystal Ball reads 100% in favor of the Florida Gators with two predictions logged.
247Sports ranks Whitfield, who stands 5-foot-10 1/2, 185-pounds, as the No. 48 cornerback nationally and as the No. 37 ranked player in the state of Florida within the 2027 recruiting class.
