The Florida Gators have picked up a massive commitment, especially when considering the circumstances.

Raheem Floyd is a four-star cornerback from East St. Louis, Illinois. East St. Louis is right across the Missouri River from the city of St. Louis and it’s essentially a part of the state of Missouri, at least as far as recruiting is concerned.

The Missouri Tigers have pulled several elite players out of East St. Louis over the years, including Luther Burden III in 2022, and Eli Drinkwitz and his program were one of the favorites to land Floyd.

The other program in the running was the Florida Gators, but new head coach Jon Sumrall and his team were certainly at a disadvantage when it came to proximity and pipeline.

And yet, Floyd took an official visit to Gainesville in mid-June, right after he took an official visit to Mizzou.

On Tuesday, the 2027 four-star officially committed to Florida over Missouri. He cited the cornerback’s coach, Brandon Harris, as a major reason behind his commitment.

“I feel like Florida is a great place. I feel like they’re building a great culture,” Floyd told Swamp247. “Coach Brandon Harris, he’s doing a great job over there already.”
