Arsenal‘s summer has already been dominated by their pursuit of Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes, with widespread reports suggesting the Brazilian wants to move to north London as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his midfield.
At the same time, the Gunners remain determined to add more firepower in attack.
Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers has emerged as Andrea Berta’s leading established top target in that regard, but Arsenal are also exploring younger options who could develop into future first-team stars.
One of those names is Christian Kofane.
The 19-year-old striker has enjoyed a remarkable rise over the last 18 months.
After breaking into Albacete’s first team during the second half of the 2024/25 season and scoring eight goals in 20 Segunda División appearances, Kofane earned a move to Bayer Leverkusen.
The teenager adapted quickly to the Bundesliga, bagging seven goals in 44 appearances across all competitions while also impressing against Arsenal in their round of 16 Champions League double header.
His progress has also been rewarded internationally, with Cameroon handing him his senior debut before he scored twice during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Arsenal have been linked Kofane as a result of his serious potential, but they face serious competition for his signature.
Arsenal in talks with Kofane’s agent but face stiff Everton competition
According to journalist David Schill, Everton have accelerated their efforts after Kofane’s agent, Eric Depolo, held positive talks at the club’s training ground this week.

Credibility |
Schill is an emerging transfer reporter who specialises in Arsenal reporting. While he is not yet considered among football’s elite transfer journalists, he has developed useful contacts, like Depolo, and regularly reports developing stories via his website Daily Arsenal. |
|
Finances |
Bayer Leverkusen are under little pressure to sell after signing him only last year. Any interested club would likely need to pay a substantial fee reflecting his age, contract and potential. His wages remain modest compared to established stars, making the transfer fee the biggest financial obstacle. |
|
Insight |
Kofane’s rise has been remarkably fast. After joining Albacete’s academy in late 2024, he broke into the first team, earned a transfer to Leverkusen and quickly adapted to Bundesliga and Champions League football. The Cameroon international has already demonstrated his knack for goalscoring and maturity well beyond his age. |
|
Impact |
Kofane would provide Arsenal with a genuine long-term centre-forward option behind Gyokeres and Havertz, while learning from the two experienced strikers to aid his development. Initially a squad option, he has the potential to develop into a complete Premier League striker over the coming years. |
Schill adds that Arsenal remain in regular talks with Depolo too, but Everton are attempting to move quickly because they are aware several clubs are monitoring his situation.
That urgency reflects just how highly Kofane is regarded across Europe.
From Arsenal’s perspective, the interest is understandable.
Why Arsenal are chasing rising star striker Kofane
While the club continue chasing proven performers such as Guimaraes and Rogers, Berta has also shown a willingness to identify emerging talent before prices become inflated.
Kofane fits that recruitment model perfectly.

Standing at 6 foot 2, he combines physical strength with impressive mobility. Rather than simply operating as a traditional target man, he enjoys drifting into wide areas, attacking space behind defenders and linking play with teammates.
Those qualities have helped him adapt successfully at every step of his young career.
Kofane would be an excellent long-term addition for Arsenal.
He is not yet ready to lead the line every week in the Premier League, but his development suggests he has an exceptionally high ceiling.
If Arsenal can beat Everton to the African’s signature, they would be signing one of Europe’s most exciting young centre-forwards before his value rises even further.
