This weekend, Jon Jones finally squashed his beef with Alex Pereira.
For context, after Pereira’s TKO loss to Ciryl Gane at the White House and “Poatan” failing to attain three-division glory, Jones uploaded a clip right away in which he wore a goat chain and seemed to be mocking Pereira.
After seeing Jones’ reaction, Pereira was shocked, as he had always shown respect to the American, spoken highly of him, and even wanted to share the octagon with Jones.
This weekend, when Jones and Pereira linked up, the former told the Brazilian he never meant to mock him after the Ciryl Gane TKO loss on June 14.
In fact, “Bones” wanted to send a message to UFC CEO Dana White, who had said before the White House event that if Pereira beats “Bon Gamin” and captures a third belt in the UFC, he will be the greatest fighter of all time. Jon Jones told Alex Pereira:
“I meant no disrespect. Dana White was saying ‘[Alex] is gonna be the GOAT’. I felt offended by Dana’s comments. I felt like Dana was trying to attack me. I was like, come on, Dana.” [h/t: Championship Rounds]

Can fans still hope for a Jon Jones vs. Alex Pereira superfight?
Jon Jones and Alex Pereira could potentially meet in the octagon later this year or early next year. Jones, who was suffering from severe hip arthritis, underwent stem cell treatment and is now pain-free and moves better than ever, as he recently said.
Meanwhile, Pereira, who wants to spend the rest of his career in the heavyweight division, is aiming to return in November.
The past few months, Jones was busy preparing his protege, Gable Steveson, who makes his UFC debut later tonight at UFC 329. The former two-division champion remains open to a return to the octagon, although he had previously asked the promotion to release him after Dana White said “Bones” had retired and would never fight again due to a bad hip.
