Paddy Pimblett’s teammate Luke Riley was ready to land bombs on Kai Kamaka III at UFC 329 and, with a powerful TKO finish, Riley decided to kick-start tonight’s preliminary card with a bang.
As the featherweight clash began, Kamaka wasted no time in piecing up Riley’s lead leg. But the Brit refused to change stances. He kept pressing forward, and after 3 minutes, he landed a crushing right hand that rocked “The Fighting Hawaiian” and sent the latter crashing to the canvas.
The undefeated Riley gave Kamaka III no time to recover. He went in for the final kill with back-to-back uppercuts, a crushing knee to the head, and back-to-back left and right hooks, forcing the referee to stop the bout before a semi-conscious Kai Kamaka III could absorb any further punishment at UFC 329.
Although the stoppage initially seemed a bit early, as Kai Kamaka III appeared to be hurt but still trying to survive, the replay made it clear that he was nearly out when the ref stepped in.
Official decision: Luke Riley defeats Kai Kamaka III by TKO (punches): Round 1 (3:03).
