New head coach James Franklin believes he has already scored one major win before the Virginia Tech Hokies‘ season opener against the VMI Keydets on Sept. 5 (ACC Network, 7:30 p.m. ET).
Franklin spoke at ACC Media Days in Charlotte on Thursday to discuss the Hokies’ future and more. The former Penn State Nittany Lions HC then raved about his first victory with the program.

“We have won the offseason,” Franklin said (h/t On3’s Brett McMurphy). “We have had a great offseason.”
The Hokies did have an impressive offseason, especially in the transfer portal. The incoming class, which On3 ranks No. 7 in the country, is headlined by former Penn State tight end Luke Reynolds and ex-Colorado Buffaloes defensive lineman Samuel Okunlola.
