Aston Villa make contact to sign £50m star as Chelsea close in on Morgan Rogers

Aston Villa have made an approach to sign West Ham United star Crysencio Summerville, with Morgan Rogers seemingly set to join Chelsea.

Summerville could be in line to leave West Ham this summer, should the Championship side receive a bid of £50m, after being one of the shining lights in a poor side last season.

Indeed, the Hammers were relegated from the Premier League, but the Dutchman still managed to put in some eye-catching displays, chipping in with nine goal involvements in 31 top flight appearances, before going on to impress at the World Cup.

The Netherlands also underperformed, being knocked out by Morocco at the round of 32 stage, but the West Ham winger managed to amass two goals and two assists in four matches.

Having described the 24-year-old as “unstoppable last season”, Nuno may be reluctant to lose Summmerville, but Villa are now ramping up their pursuit.

According to a report from The Daily Mail, Aston Villa have now made contact regarding a deal for the West Ham star, who is also attracting interest from Serie A side AS Roma.

In fact, Roma have already had a £35m bid turned down, but they are expected to return, which means Villa may have to move swiftly if they are going to win the race for his signature.

Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson is an alternative option, with the Senegal international available for a transfer this summer, after spending the 2025-26 campaign out on loan at Bayern Munich.

How Chelsea won the race for Morgan Rogers

Chelsea are widely reported to have agreed a £117m deal for Rogers, who had also been attracting interest from Arsenal, and David Ornstein has stated Xabi Alonso played an instrumental role.

The deal is now in the process of being finalised, with the England international’s medical set to take place on Monday, which exacerbates the need for Unai Emery‘s side to get another attacker through the door.

As previously noted, Jackson performed well when called upon in the Bundesliga last season, with an average of 0.72 goals per 90 ranking him second in the squad, behind only Harry Kane.

Emery is known to be an admirer of Jackson, from their time working together at Villarreal, with the Spaniard saying: “We worked during the one year on his skill, he improved his understanding better, how he could exploit his potential. And playing minutes and getting experiences was the next step.

“But his attitude as well was fantastic. He was always learning. He was always demanding to train more, to be focused. He was also being a professional every day out of training sessions at home because he was focused on football like the first priority in his life.”
