Fabrizio Romano has delivered an exciting update on Liverpool‘s pursuit of Bradley Barcola.
The Frenchman, who was considered untouchable earlier this summer, is now in the Reds’ sights as they continue to work on a deal.
It’s no secret that Andoni Iraola is after more reinforcements ahead of his first season in charge at Anfield. He’s said as much in his first press conferences. Whether Barcola solves the Spaniard’s biggest problem remains to be seen, however.

It’s easy to see why Liverpool are so interested in Barcola. They desperately need another winger following Mohamed Salah’s departure. Whilst the Frenchman would have to find a few extra levels before directly replacing the Egyptian’s output, his arrival could actually change the shape of the Reds’ frontline.
Instead of a goalscoring winger, Liverpool would have two creators at the side of Alexander Isak, who will be hoping to finally find his form at Anfield next season.
Rio Ngumoha would likely find himself on the right-hand side to hand Barcola his strongest role. It’s then that their respective take-on numbers would thrive.
Just last season, Ngumoha recored 4.9 successful dribbles per game with a take-on success of 69.8%. Barcola, meanwhile, recorded 3.05 per game at the World Cup, with a take-on success of 59.1%.
The more the summer progresses, the more it becomes clear that Liverpool should be going all out to make Barcola the first blockbuster signing of the Iraola era.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano revealed that Liverpool are working on a deal to sign Barcola that many thought to be “impossible” earlier this summer.
At the start of the window, reports claimed that PSG are not looking to sell the Frenchman. Since then, however, he’s still yet to sign a new contract and things have changed.
Now, if the European champions welcome Maghnes Akliouche and Yan Diomande, then they will be willing to sanction an exit for Barcola.
“Barcola is the top top top target of Liverpool. Liverpool love Barcola. I know many of you doubt my information, because maybe the information is not everywhere, and so many of you say it’s impossible or it’s not going to happen.
“I don’t know if it’s going to be possible financially. What I can tell you is that, for sure, Liverpool remain super keen on Bradley Barcola.”
It’s a huge boost for Liverpool, but they’ve now got the task of matching PSG’s asking price, which reportedly sits at an eye-watering £128m this summer.
