Welcome to the Minor League Update. Every day, we tell you the latest about what happened to the prospects you care about, and maybe a few more you should. Here’s who made waves yesterday:

Hitter of the Day

Easton Carmichael, C, Pittsburgh Pirates (Double-A Altoona): 3-5, 2 HR, 3 R, 5 RBI.
Carmichael struggled in his pro debut last season after being drafted in the third round out of a powerhouse Oklahoma program. But this year he corrected whatever had been failing him, and last week earned a late-summer promotion to the Eastern League by slashing .305/.350/.518 with 16 homers in 337 plate appearances with High-A Greensboro. The 22-year-old has been looking the part of a bat-first big-league catcher.

Pitcher of the Day

Hyun-Seok Jang, RHP, Los Angeles Dodgers (High-A Great Lakes): 6 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 8 K.
A high six-figure signing out of South Korea in 2023, Jang over the years has slid down (yet not off of) the Dodgers list, as he’s struggled with both injuries and underperformance. This week the 22-year-old was promoted to the Midwest League despite carrying an ERA nearing six at Low-A. So far, so good for the hard thrower with multiple breaking-ball looks.
