College football is about to get underway and while plenty of programs have designs on being competitive, only 12 will ultimately be competing for a national championship through the College Football Playoff. Schools in Power 4 conferences have an edge with automatic berths, but at-large contenders are no joke. This was on display last year when Miami went to the national title game despite not winning its conference championship.
