Want to know why Antwaun Adams goes by cornbread?
It’s a story he seemingly loves to tell, the four-star safety lights up and flashes one of the biggest smiles you’ve seen from a football player. Go on and ask him, he’ll tell you.
Here’s the lore: When Adams was four, there was a pan of freshly-baked cornbread sitting out at a family picnic.
“They had just took it out of the oven,” Adams recalled.
Someone took him over to get a piece, and then everyone went into the family room with their food. But Adams snuck off looking for more.
“And I got another piece. And another piece. And another piece,” he said. “Until it was all gone.”
Now, not everyone calls him by his nickname. But most do. “I’d say, 75/25 cornbread.”
And Adams is still hungry. Not necessarily for the South’s sweet treat, but rather the football. Whether on offense, defense, or special teams, he engulfs the sport’s prize possession on the regular.

WHY HE MATTERS
Adams is a Top 10 safety nationally with legitimately good track speed, high-end prep production in various roles, and could very well be another figure in the fold for the Kiffin Battlegrounds (LSU vs. Ole Miss).
