However, when taking into account the number of days since Garden City last lost a football game, the streak becomes even more impressive. The program’s last loss was in the state playoffs on Nov. 30, 2019. That’s a total of 2,448 days since the Trojans suffered a defeat – the sixth-longest stretch of time between losses in high school history.
De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) holds the longest time between losses, going 4,655 days from 1991 to 2007. Pittsfield (Ill.) is nearly 1,800 days back in second place at 2,869 between Nov. 13, 1965 and Sept. 21, 1973. Hudson (Mich.) went 2,626 days between Sept. 13, 1968 and Nov. 21, 1975 while Independence (Charlotte, N.C.) went 2,549 days between Sept. 8, 2000 and Sept. 1, 2007 and Caledonia (Minn.) went 2,484 days between Nov. 15, 2014 and Sept. 3, 2021.
Garden City could move into fourth place all time on that list and No. 5 on the consecutive wins list if it can put together another 12-0 season. The Trojans have strung together five straight 12-0 seasons after going 6-0 during the COVID season of 2020.
The Trojans already have the state record for most consecutive wins, moving past Maine-Endwell (Endwell, N.Y.), which ran off 62 in a row between 2011 and 2015.
