Claressa Shields and Kaye Scott brought some comedy to their final press conference stare-down when Shields looked at the Australian champion and delivered: “Our muscles the same, her titties bigger.” The exchange quickly took off online as the pair got face-to-face ahead of Saturday’s championship main event in Atlanta.

The joke came after Shields had spent much of the press conference discussing Scott’s size and strength. Scott, 42, is the taller, longer fighter with a decorated amateur background, while Shields is dropping from heavyweight to the 160-pound middleweight limit for the first time since 2023.
That physical contrast has become part of the selling point for the fight. Shields said she saw Scott’s training posts and responded by increasing her own strength-and-conditioning workload during camp. She told the press conference she had trained for 12 weeks, longer than her usual six-week preparation, while also completing the weight cut in advance of fight week.
Scott did not bite on the viral one-liner. Instead, the reigning WBC and WBA middleweight champion kept her focus on the task in front of her, saying her sparring, conditioning, diet and mindset had all been on point. She also suggested Shields may be taking her lightly because of a professional record that stands at 5-1-1.
Shields immediately rejected that idea. The undefeated Flint native said she had watched film, done extensive sparring and understood Scott’s amateur pedigree. Scott had more than 120 international amateur bouts, won world championship and Commonwealth Games medals across three weight classes, and says that experience has prepared her for the largest event of her career.
“I’m not underestimating you at all,” Shields said. “I think you’re underestimating me.” She then promised she would need to perform at a high level “to destroy” Scott, adding that she expects a point in the fight when the champion questions whether she belongs in the ring with her.

The stakes go far beyond a social-media-ready stare-down. Scott won the WBA and WBC middleweight belts in a December 2025 majority-decision rematch against Olivia Curry, and will defend them against a fighter who has already ruled several divisions. Shields enters at 18-0 with three knockouts and currently holds the undisputed heavyweight championship.
For Shields, a victory would make her the first boxer to drop from heavyweight to middleweight and win a world title. She has said Scott’s two belts were the reason she agreed to make the cut, explaining that she would not move down without championships on the line.
