UFC veteran Michael Chandler was reportedly spotted at the WWE Performance Center earlier this week.
At the age of 40, Michael Chandler has had a long and established career in mixed martial arts. He first made a big name for himself during his tenure with Bellator, but over the course of the last few years, he has locked horns with some of the very best the UFC has to offer – and he has even competed for the UFC lightweight championship.
Unfortunately, following a recent losing streak, many have questioned what the future holds for Michael Chandler. He is definitely one of the most entertaining fighters to compete at 155 pounds, but it doesn’t appear as if there is any clear route back to another title shot for a man who has always had the motto of ‘see you at the top’.
However, as per a recent report from False Finish, which has since been reported elsewhere, Michael Chandler could be about to expand his horizons in a really interesting way.
Michael Chandler heading to WWE?
The report suggests that Chandler was seen at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, where he was doing some work in the ring. It’s no secret that he is a big fan of professional wrestling, to the point where he once even called out Conor McGregor on a live episode of Monday Night Raw, WWE’s flagship weekly show that currently airs on Netflix.
Some may wonder whether or not it’s too late for Chandler to be getting into the game, but with the majority of WWE’s biggest stars being at the age of 40 or over, it’s not unrealistic to suggest that he could come in and make a big splash, perhaps in a similar manner to how Ken Shamrock was utilized back in the day.
There’s no doubt that Chandler will always have a love for MMA, but in the wake of his most recent loss to Mauricio Ruffy, he may be doing himself more harm than good by getting in there with these young, hungry lightweights.
Whatever the case may be, this is certainly a fascinating direction for him, and considering some of his post-fight interviews, you can bet he’s going to bring the heat if he does indeed make the jump.
