Tottenham also closing in on deal for “special” star after Savinho

There are many ways that Tottenham Hotspur could have reacted to almost going down last season. History suggested that it was set to be a long summer full of departures for the Lilywhites, before repeated struggles in the transfer market.

For once, however, those in North London are rewriting history. Roberto De Zerbi has slammed the reset button and a new era now awaits his side, who have welcomed seven fresh faces and counting.

Next through the door looks to be Savinho. The Brazilian is set to arrive in a deal worth as much as £85m with add-ons, as Spurs finally get the left winger that they’ve been searching for since last summer.

For the Manchester City man, it’s a chance to show his full potential after a mixed spell at the Etihad. Many expected him to explode into life in his second season at the Etihad last time out. Things didn’t quite work out like that, though.

After 16 goal involvements in his debut season, Savinho managed just seven in the last campaign – losing his place in the process. A move to Tottenham is now his chance to bounce back and prove doubters wrong.

Those in North London aren’t done shopping in Manchester quite yet, though. They’ve also got their sights set on Omar Marmoush, as Man City’s clear out continues.

Fabrizio Romano: Tottenham closing in on Marmoush

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham are now closing in on signing Marmoush, who has already agreed personal terms with the club. The deal is expected to advance and reach completion in the coming days, as Spurs land yet another impressive addition.

Romano shared the news on his YouTube channel, saying: “The expectation is for Omar Marmoush to be the next one because Marmoush has an agreement on personal terms with Tottenham.

“Marmoush is keen on this move, he’s keen on this new project at Tottenham with the possibility to be important player for Roberto De Zerbi.”

The transfer specialist then continued, saying: “Tottenham are expected to, probably not today, but in the next days to close the deal for Marmoush.”

It’s major news for Tottenham, who will have a complete frontline. Whilst some will share concerns that the Egyptian is leaving Man City after just 18 months, that is not a reflection of his talent. Although Pep Guardiola dubbed Marmoush a ‘special player’, he was never suited to the Citizens.

Instead, his ability to spin in behind at speed will be perfect for De Zerbi, who will ask his defenders to draw the press of opposition teams before exploiting the space where Marmoush will thrive.
