Nottingham Forest are pushing to seal a deal for Fiorentina’s Dodo, having now agreed personal terms with the defender.
Although the Premier League season has now begun, with Forest losing 1-0 at home against Leeds United in their opening game, Oliver Glasner still has plenty of work to do in the transfer window, before it closes on September 1st.
In fact, Glasner admitted he wants at least two new additions after the defeat against Leeds, saying: “I don’t expect anyone for Tuesday but two more players, two different positions. The club is working hard to get the deals done and that’s it.”
It will take some time for players to adjust to Glasner’s three-at-the-back system, and the Austrian may need to bring in players more suited to his preferred formation, with Dodo fitting the bill, as he has regularly been deployed as a right-wing back throughout his career to date.
The 27-year-old has plenty to offer from an attacking point of view, picking up five goals and 17 assists in 97 matches for Shakhtar Donetsk, and Vitor Severino, the Ukrainian’s side’s former assistant manager, has praised him for his pace.
Severino said: “He’s a great player with great potential. One of his best features is definitely his speed – he’s super fast – but while he used to be a player who made mistakes and allowed opponents to capitalize on them, today he’s more mature. He makes better decisions, he positions himself better today, and he’s a player I really like a lot.”

A report from Viola News (via Sport Witness) offers the latest on Nottingham Forest’s pursuit of Dodo, stating he has agreed terms on a four-year contract, with the Premier League side now pushing to get a deal over the line.
Should Forest complete a deal, the Fiorentina defender would be in line to challenge for Ola Aina’s starting spot, with the 48-cap Nigeria international being given the nod at right-wing back in the 1-0 loss against Leeds on Saturday.
