Words mean very little on the recruiting trail nowadays, but the Texas Tech Red Raiders can feel good about a recent update regarding one of their prized 2027 prospects.
That would be Jalen Brewster, a five-star defensive lineman who many consider to be the top overall high school football recruit in the country.
Brewster has been committed to Joey McGuire and Texas Tech since October 2025, which is an eternity in today’s recruiting environment.
Despite his commitment, he took official visits to Indiana, LSU, Miami and Florida. He also just recently decided to transfer high schools, moving from Cedar Hill in Texas to Buford in Georgia.
Could that move be the prerequisite for a flip, perhaps somewhere in SEC country?
According to reports from Rivals, Brewster is planning on honoring his commitment to the Rebels.
“I feel like Texas Tech is the best place for me and the best place to build my own legacy,” he told Hayes Fawcett.
