Everton hold agent talks to sign £300,000-a-week star loved by Moyes

Everton have now held talks with the agents of Manchester City’s Jack Grealish, as they attempt to lure him back to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Grealish spent the 2025-26 campaign on loan with the Toffees, and he earned plaudits from manager David Moyes after making the move to Merseyside last summer, with the Scot saying: “I think Jack can play in several positions. My aim is to get Jack in positions where he can be creative for us – score goals, get assists. It’s a big challenge for him as well so I’m looking forward to how he responds to it.

“He’s looked fabulous [early on]. He’s in good enough shape and there are a lot of good things to like about Jack. I just need to make sure I give him the right time.”

Injuries didn’t help the winger, who didn’t play a single minute after undergoing surgery for a stress fracture in his foot in February, but he impressed during the first half of the season, picking up two goals and six assists in 20 Premier League matches.

Despite not featuring for around half of the campaign, the 30-year-old finished as the Toffees’ second-best playmaker in the Premier League, behind only James Garner, who was one of Moyes’ most consistent players, featuring in every single match.

Moyes has already strengthened in forward areas this summer, with Tyrique George and Brennan Johnson arriving at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and the latter player bagged his first goal for the club in the 4-0 EFL Cup second round victory at Preston North End.

However, bringing in another attacker remains on the to-do list, and there has been a new update on the Toffees’ pursuit of Grealish.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Grealish, who rakes in £300,000-a-week at the Etihad Stadium, is set to decide his future “in the next few days”, with the Man City forward still keeping his options open.

There is no shortage of interest from within the Premier League though, with Everton and Aston Villa now in talks with his representatives.

Sunderland have been credited with an interest too, but there is “nothing concrete ongoing” with Regis Le Bris’ side, who are set to embark on a Europa League campaign this season.

Aston Villa, on the other hand, will be playing Champions League football, which could be a persuading factor, and it would be unsurprising if a return to his boyhood club pulls on the 39-cap England international’s heartstrings.
