BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing brought fight week to Miami on Friday, with Gustavo Trujillo, Yuriorkis Gamboa, Aspen Ladd and other BKB 58 competitors taking part in a media workout at KO Zone ahead of Saturday’s show at the James L. Knight Center.
BKB 58 Open Workout
The workout came with a major late switch at the top of the bill. BKB heavyweight champion Trujillo will now defend against former multi-promotion titleholder Mick Terrill after Mark O’Neill encountered visa complications. Terrill stepped in on short notice, restoring the heavyweight championship bout to the main-event slot.
BKB CEO David Tetreault addressed the change alongside host Gareth A. Davies during the workout, saying Terrill had initially been travelling to the United States to watch the event before contacting the promotion when news of O’Neill’s travel issue emerged.
“We’re very fortunate to be able to announce that Gustavo Trujillo will face Mick Terrill in the main event for the BKB Heavyweight World Championship,” Tetreault said. “This fight came together in the last 24 hours. Mick was on his way to the U.S. as an observer when he saw that Mark O’Neill was having visa issues and contacted us overnight.”
Tetreault added: “We were able to put together in the last 16 hours what would be the greatest heavyweight fight in bare knuckle history.”
The match puts Trujillo’s BKB heavyweight belt on the line against Terrill, who has held championships in more than one bare-knuckle promotion and previously held BKB’s cruiserweight title. Trujillo entered the event with an 8-0 BKB record, with every promotional win ending by first-round knockout.
“I’m here to fight the best,” Trujillo said. “I’m a world champion, and this is the fight I wanted. I don’t want to fight anyone who isn’t the No. 1 contender. Thanks to Mick for making this fight happen and on Saturday, you will get to see why I am the best heavyweight bare knuckle boxer in the world.”
With the heavyweight title fight back in place, Olympic gold medalist and former WBA and IBF featherweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa shifts into the co-main event for his first BKB appearance against Yesner “Cuajadita” Talavera.
Gamboa, who won Olympic gold for Cuba in 2004 and later held world titles in professional boxing, has fought Terence Crawford and Gervonta Davis during his gloved-boxing career. Saturday will mark his first bout in BKB’s three-sided Trigon.
“I feel amazing, and I want to thank God for the opportunity to fight here with BKB,” Gamboa said. “It’s going to be a huge fight because bare knuckle boxing brings so much action and so many knockouts. The fans are in for a real treat!”
Former UFC and PFL contender Aspen Ladd also worked out at KO Zone before her super-lightweight meeting with Brazil’s Bianca Daimoni. Ladd is making her BKB debut, although she already has bare-knuckle experience following a first-round BKFC victory in November 2025. Daimoni enters with a 1-1 BKB record.
“I cannot be more excited to be here,” Ladd said. “I was excited about the signing but to finally get to the event, I am on top of the world. My opponent is tough and a big girl, but this fight will not go to a decision.”
The Miami card also includes Roberto Duran Jr. against Ryan Spivey, BKB super-featherweight champion Alberto Blas defending against Brandon Birr, and Yunieski Gonzalez facing Ethan George for the vacant cruiserweight championship.
BKB 58: Miami takes place Saturday, August 29, at the James L. Knight Center. The U.S. main card is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET on VICE TV, while the event is also set to air on Telemundo in the United States and talkSPORT in the United Kingdom.
KO Zone provided a fitting setting for the media workout, as several fighters on the card have used the Miami gym as a training base. The open session gave local fans, coaches and media a final look at the card before BKB returns to the Trigon.
