Will the Edmonton Oilers need to find a penalty killer?
Bob Stauffer: Edmonton Oilers forwards Matthew Savoie and Mattias Janmark will miss training camp, and both were to be a part of their penalty kill. The Oilers do have some salary cap space and they could possibly look to sign a UFA with some PK experience.
(Goaltender Frederik Andersen and defenseman Alec Regula will also be missing training camp)
Montreal Canadiens Adam Engstrom has generated some interest
Arpon Basu of The Athletic: (mailbag) Montreal Canadiens prospect, defenseman Adam Engstrom‘s name has been out there, and he’s come up in trade talks. The Canadiens have been open to those talks. He holds value to the Canadiens, and they think he could be help to their blue line. Engstrom and the majority of their blue line aren’t physical.
There is no talk of the Canadiens landing Connor McDavid. If he does hit free agency after his contract is up next season, there is no doubt they would have interest.
Where Things are at with Cale Makar and the Colorado Avalanche
Will the Vancouver Canucks want to keep or move Brock Boeser?
Travis Yost of TSN: The Vancouver Canucks have started to tear things down. Elias Pettersson and his $11.6 million cap hit have come up, and Jake DeBrusk has also come up. DeBrusk could be a deadline move.
Brock Boeser has also had his name in the rumor mill. The 29-year-old has a no-movement clause. He’s may be starting the back end of his career, but he did score 40 goals two years ago. There will be teams that are interested, and the Canucks will need to decide to hang on to him a little longer, or look to acquire future assets to help their rebuild.
