Marcelo Saracchi’s agent has confirmed that a “meeting” with Celtic is scheduled before the end of the season, as Parkhead chiefs deliberate over a permanent move.
Agent confirms “meeting” with Celtic over summer deal
It’s a huge summer for Celtic. With or without the Scottish Premiership, the Bhoys have got the tough task of finally finding a long-term manager to replace interim boss Martin O’Neill, whilst also rebuilding their side.
- Just three points separate the top three in the Scottish Premiership
- Hearts and Rangers still have to travel to Celtic Park
- There’s just five league games left to play
Given the chaos that has ensued behind the scenes this season, it would be an incredible achievement if those at Celtic Park managed to retain their title by the end of the campaign.
As things stand, they sit three points behind leaders Hearts, who they play on the final day of the season. With five league games left to play, there is set to be a dramatic end to the three-way title race in the Scottish Premiership – perhaps the most dramatic that Scotland will see for a long time.
“We have a number of players who have won titles and that’s great. Sometimes those wins have come when you’ve been so far clear and they’ve deserved it. But it’s not been a title race like this, but I feel as if we have players who are capable of dealing with it.”
O’Neill is certainly confident that he has the squad to complete a shock title comeback and keeping hold of the core of that squad could be crucial to any rebuild this summer.
It’s exactly why the Bhoys pushed to keep hold of Daizen Maeda in January and why they could land a permanent deal to keep hold of Saracchi this summer.
Celtic must finally sell £1.4m star who’s becoming the new Edouard
Celtic have plenty of decisions to make this summer and should show the door to a midfield star who’s struggling under Martin O’Neill.
According to the defender’s agent, a “meeting” is set to take place with Celtic to discuss a permanent move from Boca Juniors at the end of the season.
O’Neill wants permanent Saracchi deal
Although he’s started just eight league games so far this season, Saracchi still has a role to play at Celtic. His agent confirmed the news that Parkhead chiefs could yet land a permanent deal and it would be a major boost for all parties.
“I have a meeting planned with the general manager of Celtic because they are also looking to buy his contract.”
With Kieran Tierney not getting any younger, keeping hold of Sarrachi would make perfect sense. The 27-year-old knows the Scottish Premiership well by this point and could claim the left-back spot as his own sooner or later.
The Bhoys aren’t the only side interested, though. If they want to land a permanent deal, then they’ll reportedly have to fend off interest from England – sparking a frantic race this summer.
They will hope that, if it comes down to it, the Boca Juniors loanee chooses a return to the place he’s spent a year on loan, rather than a new challenge entirely.
O’Neill is certainly a fan of the defender, urging Celtic to land a permanent deal earlier this season – saying: “Yeah, I think they will [bring Saracchi to the club permanently]. I think they should do.”
