For all of INEOS’ shortcomings, there’s no denying that Manchester United‘s recruitment has improved ever since they arrived – especially in the last 12 months.
The Red Devils didn’t skip a beat last summer, transforming their frontline with the arrival of Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo, whilst also solving their goalkeeper problem with the addition of Senne Lammens.
So much has been made about the many transfer flops in Man United’s all too recent past, but in a season which is likely to end in Champions League qualification, it’s worth celebrating the success of those aforementioned signings.
INEOS have transformed Man Utd’s recruitment
There was a time when those at Old Trafford could be fooled into following their manager’s recruitment strategy. See Erik ten Hag’s time at the club.
There was also a time when the focus was on big names for the sake of big names – just look at how Angel Di Maria worked out all those years ago.
But those days are over. There is a clear recruitment team at Man United these days and one that has transformed the way they enter the transfer market.
INEOS open talks to sign £44m “monster” who’d be Man Utd’s new Mainoo
Manchester United could land a new Kobbie Mainoo.
Last summer, there were no ready-made stars. Mbeumo, signed on a £71m deal, arrived from Brentford. Cunha arrived from Wolverhampton Wanderers, who are now heading for the Championship.
Sesko arrived from RB Leipzig and Lammens represented the unknown star at Royal Antwerp. All have enjoyed great success.

The three attackers have particularly impressed and the recent standout on that front has been Cunha. The Brazilian scored the winning goal against Chelsea and looks likely to improve even further with every week.
He’s proving to be a big game player, having also scored against Aston Villa and at the Emirates against Arsenal earlier this season. For around £62.5m, the 26-year-old is beginning to look like the perfect signing.
It’s no real surprise that Man United are looking to repeat their success in this summer’s transfer window, either, with their sights set on another attacking talent.
£50m Mane could become Man Utd’s new Cunha
Even as Wolves struggled last season, before eventually surviving, there was a clear gem in Cunha. Now, 12 months later, with their relegation confirmed, it is Mateus Mane who finds himself in that same position with those at Old Trafford taking note.
According to Sports Boom, INEOS want to close a deal to sign Mane as soon as possible this summer as they attempt to repeat Cunha’s success at Man United one year since he arrived.
Valued at £50m, Mane has stolen plenty of headlines throughout the current campaign. As Wolves have struggled, he has been one of the few bright sparks.
At 18 years old, Mane’s best years are yet to come. He wouldn’t be an instant starter at Old Trafford, but he would be one to watch.
Although £50m may seem a tad steep for a player who has been involved in three Premier League goals this season, it’s worth noting that £62.5m seemed a tad steep for Cunha and he’s since thrived at Man United.
Mane would prove to be worth the investment in years to come. It’s clear that he’s highly rated around the Premier League and his underlying numbers are certainly positive.

For context, Cunha records 1.56 successful dribbles and wins just over six duels per game. The potential is there for Mane to become an instant repeat and the goal involvements, if those underlying numbers are anything to go by, will inevitably arrive.
