Celtic are now considering using Maik Nawrocki in a swap deal to sign Cracovia’s Oskar Wojcik, having already submitted an offer worth £3.5m.

Celtic considering swap deal to sign Wojcik

The Bhoys must use what they have in the summer and that could finally mean a permanent departure for Nawrocki. The centre-back is currently on loan at Hannover 96 in the 2.Bundesliga and has played just 18 times for Celtic since arriving in 2023. If anyone needs an exit, it is the 25-year-old.

Of course, there is a possibility that a new manager finally gets the best out of Nawrocki in a Celtic shirt, but it seems as though they would be set to benefit from his sale in the coming months – particularly in a swap deal.

According to reports in Poland relayed by Celtic Way, Celtic could offer Nawrocki in a swap deal to sign Wojcik from Cravovia this summer. The Scottish giants already saw a bid worth £3.5m rejected for the defender in January, as his club held out for £4.3m, but are now seemingly ready to return to negotiations.

Alas, it is worth noting that it’s not just Celtic who’ve got Wojcik on their radar. Coventry City, who are on their way to the Premier League, are also keen on the 22-year-old alongside teams in the Serie A.

It’s set to be a hectic race for the defender and one that Celtic could certainly do with winning. They will be hoping that the chance to sign Nawrocki in return is one that tempts Cravovia and brings their price tag down this summer.

Wojcik would be an instant upgrade on Nawrocki

It’s a transfer that would make perfect sense for all parties. Cracovia would have an instant replacement in Nawrocki and Celtic would have an instant upgrade in Wojcik. The 22-year-old has been in fine form all season and interest from around Europe should come as little shock.

The £4m+ defender has outperformed the Celtic loanee is every department this season and could get even better with more experience in Scotland.

Although the Bhoys were priced out of a move in January, using Nawrocki could help bridge that gap at a crucial time this summer. A lot would, of course, rely on the defender accepting the move, but he needs permanent game time more than a return to Celtic Park in the coming months.

The Hoops want to strengthen their backline.

Only Falkirk and Hibernian have conceded more goals than Celtic in the Scottish Premiership‘s top six this season. That record must change if they are to reassert their dominance from next season onwards.
