Leeds United have stormed into the race to sign Dynamo Dresden’s Kofi Amoako this summer, whose value has skyrocketed as a result of their presence.
Leeds join race to sign Amoako
Those at Elland Road have the privilege of focusing on the transfer window before their first season back in the Premier League has even reached a conclusion.
Daniel Farke‘s side are all but safe and deservedly so after an excellent mid-season turnaround sent them clear of the relegation zone. Now, with just three games left to play, the Whites sit as high as 14th in the Premier League and seven points clear of the dropzone.
With their focus turning towards the transfer window, it looks as though the priority will be adding another midfielder to their side this summer, as rumours persist over Ao Tanaka’s future.
Just who arrives remains the big question. Whilst the likes of Andre from Wolverhampton Wanderers have threatened to steal the headlines, it could be the relatively unknown that arrives instead.
According to Bild, and relayed by Sport Witness, Leeds have stormed into the race to sign Amoako from Dynamo Dresden ahead of the summer transfer window.
The midfielder is also attracting interest from Mainz, Union Berlin and Hamburg, but it is Leeds’ presence which has changed the scope of the deal.

Reports in Germany have claimed that Amoako’s value has enjoyed a “significant increase” as a result of interest from Elland Road. This means that any previous rumour that he could be worth just €2m (£2m) can likely be scrapped.
Whether that’s enough to put Leeds off any potential deal remains to be seen, but Amoako is certainly ready for a big move this summer.
Amoako could become Tanaka repeat
On paper, it may seem like Germany’s second division is one to avoid for Premier League sides, but Leeds know that’s far from the case. It wasn’t so long ago that they welcomed Tanaka from Fortuna Düsseldorf in that very division, before he played a crucial part in their promotion and featured in their return to the top flight.
Now, two years on from that deal, those at Elland Road could swap Tanaka for Amoako. The 20-year-old has impressed in Germany this season and looks destined for the top flight, whether it’s in Germany or England.

The 20-year-old is yet to reach the peak of his powers, but his best traits are clear for all to see. Whilst Amoako has plenty of work to do in possession, he would arguably be an upgrade on Tanaka off the ball. If his price doesn’t rise above Leeds’ reach, then they should push to welcome the midfielder this summer.
