Rangers have now held talks to sign Red Bull Salzburg attacker Bobby Clark, and a cut-price deal could be possible this summer.
Danny Rohl under pressure as title charge goes up in smoke
The Gers’ chances of winning the Scottish Premiership title are now looking increasingly remote, having fallen seven points behind Hearts after losing 2-1 against the league leaders at Tynecastle last time out.
With just three games left to play, perhaps all the Gers can do is stop bitter rivals Celtic from winning the league for the fifth season on the spin, and they are set to travel to Parkhead for the Old Firm derby this Sunday.
Given that it looks like the Ibrox outfit are going to fall short in the title race, football writer Stephen McGowan believes Danny Rohl is now under real pressure, saying: “In a rational football environment, probably he wouldn’t come under anything like this amount of pressure, but this is not a rational environment, it’s Glasgow.
“He did do exceptionally well to get him back in the race, but there are big questions over Danny Rohl now, these are dangerous times for him.”
Rangers hold talks to sign Bobby Clark
However, according to a report from TEAMtalk, the 49ers are planning to back Rohl heavily in the summer, with Rangers starting to get ready for a big transfer window.
Red Bull Salzburg’s Clark has now emerged as one of their targets, and talks have been held, with the 21-year-old, who has been on loan at Derby County this season, keen on making the move to Ibrox.
A cut-price deal could be possible in the summer, with the midfielder failing to force his way into the Austrian side’s plans, although he has been able to make a real impact on loan at Pride Park.
The youngster was a mainstay in the Derby starting XI, picking up three goals and four assists in 42 Championship appearances, and he has been lauded for his play-making abilities by scout Jacek Kulig.
The Newcastle-born maestro made his initial breakthrough at Liverpool, making 14 senior appearances for the Reds and chipping in with four goal involvements.
It is clear the Gers want to strengthen in the middle of the park, but they are also planning to make an addition to their forward line this summer, and they have now set their sights on a centre-forward.
