Newcastle United have very little to play for in the final three games of the Premier League season because they are seven points off the European places and nine points above the bottom three.

It is unlikely that the Magpies, therefore, will push on to qualify for a European competition or be relegated from the division before the end of this month.

Eddie Howe and his staff should already be looking ahead to the summer transfer window and their plans to ensure that next term is not as disappointing as this one has been on the pitch.

It will not be an easy summer, though, because Newcastle are set to go through another transfer saga with a player exit, as they did with Alexander Isak last year before his eventual £125m move to Liverpool.

Now, Anthony Gordon could follow in the Swedish striker’s footsteps by securing a big-money move away from St. James’ Park in the coming months.

Update on Bayern Munich’s pursuit of Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon

Earlier this week, Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie revealed that German giants Bayern Munich are interested in a deal to sign the England international from Newcastle this summer.

The journalist revealed that the Bundesliga champions are already in talks with the Magpies over a potential summer deal for the former Everton attacker, who has scored 17 goals in 46 games this season.

Downie reported that the two clubs have a good working relationship, which could help Bayern in their efforts to sign the wide player, and that Newcastle are open to offers for Gordon this summer.

However, the journalist did not reveal how much the Magpies are set to demand for the attacker, how much the German side are willing to pay for his services.

Whilst losing Gordon would be a big blow, because of his output this season, Newcastle may have already signed Howe’s perfect replacement for the winger.

It is worth remembering that the 25-year-old attacker only scored seven goals and provided eight assists in 78 matches for Everton before Newcastle decided to bring him to St. James’ Park in January 2023.

Gordon had only scored three goals and had not registered a single assist in 16 Premier League games in the 2022/23 campaign before the Magpies snapped him up, as they saw the potential for him to explode.

Now, 19-year-old academy talent Seung-Soo Park could emerge as the England international’s successor on the left wing at St. James’ Park if he can progress in a similar way.

Newcastle signed the South Korean talent from Suwon Bluewings in the summer of 2025, after he became the youngest goalscorer in the history of South Korean professional football at the age of 17 years 3 months 21 days.

Park scored one goal, created 13 chances, and provided two assists in 14 appearances and three starts in the K League 2 for Bluewings as a 17-year-old winger.

The teenage left winger has only scored two goals and provided four assists in 26 games for Newcastle’s U21s, but he was hailed for his “outrageous” quality on the ball by reporter Jordan Cronin earlier this season.

Park has made the bench in the Premier League and the FA Cup this season, which shows that Howe has seen potential in him, but he has not made his first-team debut, yet.

His talent is evident, however, having been described by Asian football expert John Duerden as being “similar to [Kylian] Mbappé

With Gordon seemingly on course to leave the club, possibly for Bayern Munich, in the summer, the South Korean could see the path cleared for him to walk into the first-team to show what he can do at senior level in England.

He is a right-footed left winger, like the English star, and has shown glimpses of quality at youth level, just as Gordon did with Everton before finding consistency on Tyneside.

Howe must provide him with a chance to showcase his talent in pre-season, because Newcastle may have already signed the perfect replacement for their current left winger.
