Rangers chiefs are now braced for interest in rising star Findlay Curtis, with English Championship club Middlesbrough threatening to swoop in this summer.
The Gers have endured a nightmare few weeks, from losing out on the Scottish Premiership title all the way to Danny Rohl‘s public fall out with the departing James Tavernier.
They’ll be desperate to get back on track this summer, but could first have the task of keeping hold of some key players, including someone that Rohl is a massive fan of.
Better signing than Mikey Moore: Rangers could sign future £60m star for Rohl
Rangers could make the perfect signing for Danny Rohl this summer.
According to TeamTalk, Middlesbrough are now plotting a move to sign Curtis this summer, fresh from an impressive loan spell at Kilmarnock.
Boro, who have just been handed a shock revival in the Championship playoffs following Southampton’s exposed spy, could make the Rangers youngster their first signing in the Premier League if they win at Wembley.
It would be some move for the 19-year-old, who’s yet to truly receive a consistent opportunity at Ibrox.
Alas, these are rumours that the 49ers are keen to shut down sooner rather than later. Both the American owners and Rohl reportedly want to build around Curtis in years to come and are fearful of the backlash that would come their way if they were to sell the youngster.
Just how long they can fend off such interest remains to be seen, though. The teenager is already set to become a World Cup player after a shock call-up to the Scotland side and any standout performance there would only increase the interest in his signature this summer.

Middlesbrough welcome shock playoff reprieve
Those in Teesside will be spying with their little eyes something that resembles the Wembley arches. From the heartbreak of defeat, Middlesbrough have a chance to reach the Premier League in the most unique of circumstances this weekend.
The club released a statement after the EFL decided to expel Southampton from the playoffs as a result of their illegal spying, saying: “Middlesbrough Football Club welcomes the outcome of today’s Disciplinary Commission hearing.
“We believe this sends out a clear message for the future of our game regarding sporting integrity and conduct. As a club, we are now focused on our game against Hull City at Wembley on Saturday. Ticket information for our supporters will be available shortly.”
The headlines will continue to rumble on but, as things stand, Kim Hellberg and Middlesbrough could still take their place in the Premier League next season.
