James Maddison called out Tottenham Hotspur‘s medical team after Roberto De Zerbi sparked celebrations on Sunday.
Tottenham, finally, got the job done in the Premier League, winning against Everton on the last day of the season to save themselves and condemn West Ham United to relegation to the Championship.
The hard work starts now. If Spurs find themselves in relegation-threatened territory once again next year, tensions might just boil over, with mutiny against ENIC Group already simmering away.

However, the board are hoping to demonstrate change nice and quickly, with a deal for several new defenders already edging toward completion.
The latest on Spurs’ search for new defenders
Now that Tottenham’s Premier League status is secure, they can plan for the future. Chief among ENIC’s targets is Andy Robertson, who is anticipated to sign for the Londoners when his Liverpool contract expires next month.
However, the Scottish veteran isn’t alone in heading to north London, with Marcos Senesi also finalising a move to Tottenham, according to Matteo Moretto.
The transfer reporter claims that the Lilywhites have “verbally agreed” to secure the outgoing Bournemouth centre-back’s signature, beating Liverpool in the race.
Senesi and Spurs are on the same page, and it’s a good thing too. Tottenham have been porous defensively this year, and while this is a problem that encompasses more than just the backline’s failings, signing Senesi is crucial, confirming that one mainstay’s career down N17 is over.
Spurs superstar is finished when Senesi signs
Micky van de Ven and Kevin Danso have formed a solid partnership in Cristian Romero‘s absence, the Argentina international suffering a season-ending injury during De Zerbi’s first game in charge, that 1-0 defeat at Sunderland.
Romero returned from his homeland to watch Spurs stave off relegation against Everton, but he will not play for the club again, widely expected to push for a summer sale.
Former Spurs star Chris Waddle, speaking exclusively to Football FanCast, said earlier in the season that the 27-year-old “never really wanted to be at Tottenham“, and while he is a terrific player, whether he’s the right captain is certainly a question worth raising.
Romero has spoken at length of his adoration for the club, but Tottenham have shown in the most desperate of situations that they can adapt, and that will only deepen when a ball-playing defender like Senesi is welcomed to the fold.
After all, with Romero attracting interest from Spanish suitors, among others, it looks like he will be headed for the exit; ENIC Group have placed an £87m price tag on his signature.
Whether Tottenham manage to bank such a hefty sum remains to be seen, but their hopes of cashing in for a pretty penny have been doubled now that safety has been secured.
Senesi is an extremely creative centre-half, having created seven big chances across the 2025/26 season. Moreover, he won nearly six duels per game, carrying the ball forward and looking to spark attacking transitions from deep.
That kind of movement has been missing in north London this term, even when Romero was fit for much of the campaign. Something needs to change, and with Senesi inbound, De Zerbi might just find that he has hit the jackpot.
