Arsenal could be about to get instant revenge on Paris Saint-Germain after holding a meeting with one of their young, future stars.

Arsenal hold talks with PSG defender

The Gunners are back on their English throne for the first time in 22 years and the first order of business is likely to take place in the summer transfer window.

With every other club in the Premier League‘s so-called big six entering their first full season with new managers, Mikel Arteta will be well aware of the opportunity in front of Arsenal.

The Gunners want to bolster their forward line.

Those in North London have the chance to turn the end of their drought into an unstoppable tsunami of silverware if they get things right in the recruitment department.

To that end, a number of names have already entered Arsenal’s reported radar – the biggest of which being Julian Alvarez. Atletico Madrid’s public outburst towards Barcelona has certainly left the door ajar for the Gunners. Whether they take full advantage to sign the former Manchester City man remains to be seen, however.

They’re not just targeting current stars, either. Leicester City sensation Jeremy Monga could also be on the way and so could an impressive Ligue 1 talent.

According to Le Parisien, Arsenal have held talks to sign Emmanuel Mbemba, who has told Luis Enrique and PSG that he’ll be leaving the club this summer.

The French giants put an offer on the table, in what would have been the left-back’s first professional contract, only to receive a shock rejection. He’s now listening to offers from across Europe and has already held a meeting with club chiefs at Arsenal.

“Excellent” Mbemba is a future star

Although the likes of Mbemba and Monga won’t steal immediate headlines, they should certainly excite Arsenal fans. The Gunners have particularly built their foundation on versatile defenders and the arrival of Mbemba would ensure that continues for years to come.

The teenager is certainly rated highly around Europe. Como scout Ben Mattinson was full of praise for Mbemba’s “dominant” defending from wide and “excellent” one-on-one ability – two traits that will resonate with the majority of Arsenal’s current backline.

It speaks volumes about his potential that PSG were so keen to offer him a senior deal. The ball, however, is now in Mbemba’s court with Arsenal awaiting a decisive decision about the defender’s future.
