Tottenham‘s summer recruitment drive is showing no signs of slowing down, with the club continuing to strengthen key areas of the squad ahead of the new season.

It has already been a busy week in north London.

The headline arrival has been Andy Robertson, with Spurs moving quickly to secure one of the Premier League‘s most experienced left-backs.

The Scotland captain brings leadership, quality and an elite mentality to the dressing room, and his arrival is viewed as a significant statement of intent as Tottenham look to build a winning side.

However, club officials are far from finished.

One of Tottenham’s main priorities remains strengthening the centre of defence, and Jan Paul van Hecke continues to feature prominently on the club’s wishlist.

The Brighton defender has emerged as a major target, with Spurs pushing hard to bring the Dutch international to north London.

The pursuit has not been straightforward.

Brighton have already rejected multiple offers and remain determined to keep one of their most important players.

They’re considering him in addition to Savinho.

Despite those setbacks, Tottenham have not walked away from negotiations and there remains optimism that a deal could eventually be struck before the transfer window closes.

Reports throughout the week have also suggested Spurs are receiving encouragement from the player’s side.

Van Hecke is believed to favour a move to Tottenham if he leaves Brighton this summer, a factor that could prove important if discussions continue.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have also been in talks for Man City winger Savinho as they explore ways to add more pace and creativity to their attack.

The Brazilian remains highly regarded across Europe and would provide another exciting option in the final third if Spurs were able to make progress on a deal.

However, one player will be through the door before either Savinho or van Hecke.

Tottenham to announce Marcos Senesi signing in ‘next few days’

According to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge, Marcos Senesi is expected to become Tottenham’s next signing after he agreed to join them.

Senesi-Bournemouth

The Argentine defender recently left Bournemouth and is now believed to be closing in on a confirmed move to London, with an announcement potentially arriving within the next few days.

Senesi has spent recent weeks training in Spain while remaining available for a possible Argentina call-up. However, attention now appears to be focused firmly on completing his next club move.

“Tottenham Hotspur’s next signing is expected to be Marcos Senesi,” said Bridge, via Sky’s live blog [Wednesday, 09:42].

“His arrival is likely to be announced over the next few days after leaving Bournemouth.

“Senesi has been training in Spain ahead of a possible late call-up for Argentina but now looking unlikely.

“Spurs still hope to sign Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton. Brighton revealed on Sunday they have rejected two bids for the Dutch defender.

“Spurs are believed to be encouraged by van Hecke’s desire to only sign for Spurs despite interest elsewhere.”

For Tottenham, the transfer makes plenty of sense.

The 29-year-old arrives with significant Premier League experience and has consistently impressed since joining Bournemouth.

Comfortable on the ball and capable of operating in different defensive systems, he offers the type of versatility that managers value over the course of a long season.

His arrival would also provide immediate depth in a position Spurs are clearly looking to strengthen.

Interestingly, Senesi’s move is not expected to end Tottenham’s pursuit of Van Hecke.

If that proves to be the case, Tottenham could emerge from the transfer window with two new centre-backs, with Man United recently tipped to launch a bid for captain Cristian Romero.

For now, though, all eyes are on Senesi.

With an announcement reportedly approaching, Spurs supporters may not have to wait much longer before seeing the Argentine become the latest addition to an increasingly busy summer rebuild.
