Chelsea‘s summer transfer plans continue to dominate the headlines as Xabi Alonso prepares for his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge.
The Spaniard inherited a talented squad, but there is a clear expectation that further additions need to arrive before the transfer window closes.
Several high-profile names have been linked with moves to west London.
The Blues have continued to be linked with AC Milan star Mike Maignan, with reports suggesting Chelsea remain admirers of the experienced French international despite previous difficulties in negotiations.
Alonso is believed to be keen on having strong competition across every position, and the goalkeeping department is no exception.

Meanwhile, there has been surprise speculation surrounding Real Madrid playmaker Arda Güler.
Recent reports have suggested Chelsea remain huge admirers of the Turkish international, with Alonso thought to view him as a player capable of adding another level of creativity to the squad.
Any deal would be difficult to complete given Real Madrid’s reluctance to sell, but the links underline the calibre of player Chelsea are targeting.

Alonso thinks he could be a transformative addition.
There has also been ongoing discussion surrounding potential departures.
The club continue to assess their squad and there is an acceptance that outgoing transfers could be just as important as new arrivals when it comes to shaping Alonso’s plans for the season ahead.
However, one name appears to be generating more excitement than most.
Morgan Rogers makes Chelsea transfer stance clear
According to Chelsea insider Simon Phillips, Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers has not ruled out the possibility of moving to Stamford Bridge this summer.
His Substack report claims Chelsea have already made their interest known through discussions involving the player’s representatives and have been working behind the scenes on the possibility of a deal for some time.
That development is likely to encourage Chelsea supporters.
Rogers enjoyed another outstanding season and has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most exciting attacking players.
His ability to carry the ball, beat defenders and create chances has made him one of the most sought-after talents in English football.
At just 23 years old, he also fits the age profile Chelsea typically target.
Importantly, Phillips reports that Rogers has left the door open to a move to Stamford Bridge rather than immediately dismissing the possibility.
That does not mean Chelsea are favourites, though.
The England international is believed to be attracting interest from several elite clubs, with Arsenal frequently mentioned among his admirers. The competition for his signature is expected to be intense, particularly given the level of performances he has produced over the past two seasons.
There is also the issue of cost.
Aston Villa are under no pressure to sell cheaply and Rogers would almost certainly command one of the biggest fees of the summer transfer window, mooted to be up to £100 million.
Chelsea would need to make a significant financial commitment if they decide to pursue the deal seriously.
Even so, the fact Chelsea remain in the race is notable.
Phillips states that the Blues have not received any indication that they should abandon their pursuit and are still actively trying to position themselves for a possible move.
Whether that ultimately leads to an agreement remains to be seen.
For now, Rogers appears to be keeping his options open.
