ATLANTA, Ga. – In the midst of a buzzing month for the college football recruiting world, Georgia Tech played host to the Brent Key/Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic 7-on-7 last week.
The roughly 60 teams in attendance battled either the elements or the heat across the three days, but weather would not prevent a champion from being crowned each day. Nor would it prove detrimental for some of the top performers on The Flats.
The premise of awarding an Alpha Dog in this setting was simple: did you do as much as you can to help your team go as far as they can? Burnett was a resounding yes with his impact on both sides of the ball, snagging interceptions and touchdowns for a loaded Marietta Walton team that succumbed to Lawrenceville Mountain View in a championship game thriller, 38-28.

The hulking, 6-foot-4 Burnett was an end zone regular for the Raiders on day two. He came down with passes in crowded environments, found openings as a route runner, and strided in for scores when afforded the requisite space after the catch. Defensively, Burnett was essentially parked as a post safety throughout the day to weaponize his length against third-level attempts, but he was more than comfortable working both north and south in coverage.
