LOS ANGELES — We are less than two weeks away from the live commitment announcement of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy Top100 receiver Osani Gayles, one of the most coveted players in the class of 2027. The 6-0, 185-pounder will share his decision live on the CBS Sports College Football YouTube Channel.
Gayles is ranked by 247Sports as an elite talent. He is ranked as the No. 34 overall player in the country, No. 7 receiver nationally, and No. 5 recruit in his home state.
247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins has raved about Gayles for a very long time. Whether it is the high school production or his highlight reel plays on the 7-on-7 circuit, Gayles is a special talent.
“He is a gifted inside receiver with the intelligence, confidence, and polish to elevate any passing attack. He manipulates defenders with impressive route tempo as he mixes speeds and snaps out of breaks at crisp angles. He can bypass coverage with advanced releases and easy acceleration. Gayles tracks the ball extremely well and will find a late burst when needed. He is combative more times than not in 50-50 situations with his play strength. He is slippery after the catch as he stacks cuts to avoid would-be tacklers. He’s not one who saw many targets come his way in a run-heavy attack as a junior, but did score on 40 percent of his receptions and has been a consistent top performer on the offseason circuit. He should be viewed as a potential high-volume slot that can get open at all three levels for a College Football Playoff hopeful.”
When looking at the list of receivers in the 2027 class, the group is absolutely loaded. Gayles is right on the cusp of that fifth star, which is given to the top 32 players in the nation. As it stands right now, there are six 5-star receivers this cycle. Again, that group is loaded.
