Alex Pereira has responded after polarizing heavyweight Josh Hokit repeatedly targeted him, including making remarks about Pereira’s mother.

This past weekend at UFC Freedom 250, “Poatan” lost to Ciryl Gane by TKO in Round 2 of the co-main event, and his dreams of becoming the first fighter in the company to attain three-division glory were dashed.

That same night, Hokit locked horns with Derrick Lewis, secured a Round 2 knockout victory over “The Black Beast,” and moved up to the No. 4 spot on the UFC heavyweight chart.
After getting his hand raised, “The Incredible Hok” took personal shots at the former champion by once again bringing Pereira’s mother into the conversation. He quipped:

“Alex Pereira, I wanna chama on your mama.”

Alex Pereira has been in Josh Hokit’s crosshairs ever since the UFC Freedom 250 press conferences began. The 28-year-old also trolled Ilia Topuria for showing support for “Poatan” while Hokit tried to target him.
Pereira had previously suggested that the UFC might release Hokit after the White House event. However, the surging heavyweight called those rumors false and revealed that he has signed a new eight-fight deal. He also added via an X post that, given his track record of delivering exciting fights, there’s no reason for the promotion to consider cutting him.

Alex Pereira says he could have attacked Josh Hokit but chose not to: “I know how to keep my cool”

After the White House Ciryl Gane loss, “Poatan” has made it clear that he intends to stay at heavyweight and will bounce back soon. Alex Pereira wants to run it back with “Bon Gamin” and believes the latter did not finish him with legal strikes.

However, if Pereira does not get the rematch right away, he’s game to lock horns with any other heavyweight, including Josh Hokit. The former two-division UFC champion told Ariel Helwani:

“I expressed myself since the beginning. It doesn’t matter to me. My contract is signed with the UFC. Whoever they put to fight me, I’m gonna fight.”

During the same sitdown with Helwani, the Brazilian said he could have attacked Hokit over the comments the 28-year-old made during the White House Event press conferences. But he chose not to, as he knows how to remain calm and composed while enduring nonstop, unprovoked trash talk. “Poatan” added:

“No, I know how to keep my cool, keep my mind in a cool spot. I am not that type of guy. I had my opportunities. People talk about the press conference, but nobody was on top of me on the day. If I wanted to, I could have just slapped him on the face, kicked him in the head, do whatever I wanted, but I know how to keep my cool. For sure, if he were in my situation, he would probably try to do something.”
