It’s full focus on the World Cup for the footballing world, but perhaps not for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who is hard at work with technical director Andrea Berta as he looks to strengthen his Premier League-winning squad this summer.
This synthesis between the various sectors of the football club has allowed Arteta to create an outfit who have stabilised at the top of English and European football, not only riding the crest of a title-winning wave but now at the centre of a sea of competitors, all vying for the ascendancy.

This is all down to Arteta, whose vision has been realised. However, last time they played, Arsenal lost to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties in the Champions League final, the now there is a hunger to go even further next year.
To achieve that, the Londoners will need to get busy in the summer transfer window.
Arsenal nearing “here we go” for first summer signing
Arsenal have reached the top, but they cannot afford to rest on their laurels; the Kroenke’s must back Arteta and ensure he has the requisite resources to fend off the inevitable advances of Liverpool and Manchester City.
Arteta has Aston Villa superstar Morgan Rogers in his sights. The Three Lions attacker wants to leave Unai Emery’s project, and the Gunners have emerged as the frontrunners for his signature, which has been appraised at £100m.
Rogers is one of the best players in the Premier League. He would challenge Martin Odegaard and Eberechi Eze for a starting berth, and on the basis of the evidence of the past year – maybe longer – he would win.
However, Arsenal need to continue to leverage themselves into an even stronger position by reinforcing their youthful ranks too. Ethan Nwaneri and Max Dowman and company are gunning for cemented roles in the starting 11, and Arteta may have found himself another elite talent to extend Arsenal’s stay at the top of the game.
As per Fabrizio Romano – speaking on his YouTube channel – Arsenal are “very confident” that they will sign Jeremy Monga from Leicester City this summer, having sent their “first official bid”.
Excitingly, Romano suggested that there could be a “here we go soon” regarding the teenager, the Italian’s famous catchphrase regarding completed deals.
Monga, 16, was one of the few bright sparks in 2025/26 for the Foxes, and he will fetch a pretty penny, valued at £10m in spite of his age and inexperience.
The Foxes are expected to struggle to keep the prodigious prospect at the King Power following their shock relegation into League One.
Why Monga can be Arsenal’s future Morgan Rogers
Monga might be young, but he is already emerging as one of his brightest attacking prospects out there, growing into his skin in tough conditions at Leicester in 2025/26.
Described as “England’s Ousmane Dembele” by Como scout Ben Mattinson, Monga is frighteningly quick and boasts a natural elegance on the ball. Whether he will cement himself as a wide player or in a number ten berth remains to be seen, but there’s no question that he has the potential to develop into one of England’s most formidable forwards, someone who could shape a new era at Arsenal.
He featured 27 times in the Championship, starting eight times. He scored a goal and supplied two assists, which might not seem like much, but is merely an adjunct at this early stage, with the fact that he passed confidently and dribbled electrically and dazzled invariably all representing Monga in his bid to become a superstar.
He’s more comfortable as an out-and-out winger than the Three Lions man, but Monga could become a pocket version of Arsenal’s potential marquee signing, boasting similar athletic and electric properties.
It’s all evidence of Arsenal’s growth under Arteta’s wing, and an emphasis on signing specific profiles to keep this system firing on all cylinders. The Gunners are champions, but they do need some more impetus and flair in attack.
Rogers has developed into one of football’s finest attacking midfielders in recent years, and he will shine for an Arsenal team already at the top of their game, already stable and stylised within Arteta’s vision.
Arteta has his own vision all right, and if he gets this one over the line, he could take this project to even richer ground in the future.
