Liverpool and Manchester United could be about to take their rivalry into the transfer market to sign an attacking star, who would instantly break a Premier League record.
Liverpool chasing more wingers after Munoz
The Reds are the club to watch in the transfer window right now, having just hijacked Newcastle United’s deal to sign Victor Munoz from Osasuna.
Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes are ready to back Andoni Iraola, even after spending so big last summer, and it’s an open secret that they’re after quick wingers.
Confirming the news of Munoz’s arrival, Liverpool release a statement saying: “Liverpool FC have agreed a deal to sign Victor Munoz from Osasuna, subject to a successful work permit application and international clearance.
“The forward, who is currently on World Cup duty with Spain, completed a medical at the country’s base in Tennessee in the USA and has put pen to paper on a long-term contract.
“Munoz is the first new addition since the arrival of head coach Andoni Iraola and will link up with his new teammates later this summer after his participation in the tournament with his national team has concluded.”
And Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the Reds are also set to sign another winger and midfielder after the Spaniard’s arrival.
On that front, Yan Diomande has been the most prominent name. The RB Leipzig star is set to cost over £100m this summer amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool.
Liverpool’s first bid of around £87m has been rejected by Leipzig, who are demanding closer to £104m, but those at Anfield are ready to focus on alternative targets in the event that they miss out on Diomande.
The key criteria for whoever arrives is blistering pace and that could see Liverpool attempt to hijack Man United in the race to sign a Ligue 1 sensation.

Liverpool and Man Utd eye rapid Ligue 1 star
If it’s not Diomande, then it may well be someone who’s even quicker.
According to Ben Jacobs, Liverpool are now eyeing a move to sign Matias Fernandez-Pardo, who Man United have been ‘working’ on securing in recent weeks.
It could bring the Premier League’s biggest rivalry to life in the transfer market for a player who would instantly become the fastest man in the history of England’s top tier.
It’s not just the Premier League that Fernandez-Pardo races clear of, either. At 38.5 km/h, the versatile forward would have been the quickest player in the Champions League last season, beating Manchester City’s Abdukodir Khusanov.
The 21-year-old isn’t just about pace, either. He’s also got an eye for goal, having scored eight and created another seven in all competitions last season.
If Diomande opts for PSG, Liverpool should shift their full attention to the LOSC Lille star and get one over on Man United in the process.
