Andoni Iraola has been handed the task of restoring Liverpool to the top after Arne Slot was dismissed despite just about securing Champions League football for 2026-27.

The scale of the rebuild is significant. Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konaté have all departed, leaving Iraola to reshape large portions of a squad that looked out of gas and out of ideas at points last season.

Salah’s exit is the one that looms largest – a situation that deteriorated around Christmas and never recovered, despite him having signed a new contract off the back of the title win.

On the incoming side, Liverpool wrapped up the signing of Rennes defender Jeremy Jacquet in February, while Spain winger Victor Munoz was signed this week after the Reds jumped ahead of Newcastle to trigger his release clause.

The Osasuna star, who scored six time sin the Spanish top flight last season for a struggling side, has signed a long-term contract at Anfield subject to a successful work permit application and international clearance.

Having begun his career in the academy at hometown club Barcelona, he started his senior career at Real Madrid, for whom he made four appearances – all of them as a substitute – before joining Los Rojillos last summer.

The 22 year-old is not expected to be the only new winger brought in this summer however, and the Reds have already submitted a €100m (£87m) bid for RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande, which was rejected.

Diomande scored 12 times and provided eight assists in the Bundesliga last season and starred in Ivory Coast’s opening World Cup match against Ecuador.

He is not the only target on the shortlist however, and Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Liverpool also have an eye on PSG star Bradley Barcola.

The France international is expecetd to consider his options this summer having fallen behind the sensational Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in Luis Enrique’s pecking order.

“It’s going to be a crazy summer in terms of wingers.

“Don’t forget the name of Bradley Barcola for Liverpool, don’t forget.”

Arsenal are reportedly preparing a bid for the PSG speedster, so FSG may have to act fast if they want to bring him to Merseyside.

The Gunners are looking to upgrade their options on the wing after a poor season for Gabriel Martinelli and continued injury problems for Bukayo Saka.

The 23 year-old Barcola started just 21 games in Ligue 1 last season, but still managed to be his side’s top goalscorer in the competition with 11.

That is now his second straight season reaching double figure goals in the French top flight, and he is expected to cost upwards of £80m this summer.
