Quick hits on Jake DeBrusk, Edmonton Oilers, Patrik Laine, Patrick Kane, LA Kings, Buffalo Sabres, Darnell Nurse, and Drew Doughty
David Pagnotta of the Fourth Period: The Ottawa Senators, Seattle Kraken, Winnipeg Jets and Columbus Blue Jackets are believed to be among the teams interested in Vancouver Canucks Jake DeBrusk.
Manny Malhotra is being paid around $1.5 million in Canadian dollars and not U.S. dollars.
It’s sounding like both Jack Roslovic and Adam Henrique won’t be back with the Edmonton Oilers next season.
Patrik Laine could end up with the Los Angeles Kings on a low AVV and bonus deal. The Kings were one of the teams talking to the Montreal Canadiens at the trade deadline.
NHL Rumors: Ottawa Senators Looking to Make a Big Splash This Offseason
Could Patrick Kane be Alex Tuch‘s replacement in Buffalo?
The Sabres could look at moving Bowen Byram for a young, top-six forward.
The Pittsburgh Penguins and Edmonton Oilers have discussed a Darnell Nurse trade. The Penguins might be No. 1 on his five-team list. A Nurse trade could happen around the draft.
Drew Doughty and the Kings are working on an extension.
Bowen Byram might be a nice fit for the Pittsburgh Penguins
Dan Kingerski of Pittsburgh Hockey Now: The Pittsburgh Penguins should be calling the Buffalo Sabres about defenseman Bowen Byram. He put up a career high 42 points in 82 games last season, and 7 in 13 playoff games.
Byram wants a chance to be a top-pairing defenseman, something that won’t happen in Buffalo with Rasmus Dahlin and Owen Power ahead of him. The Penguins will have a spot as some of their blue line are aging out in the next year or two. Erik Karlsson has a year left, and Kris Letang has two years left.
Last offseason, Byram’s name came up, and the Vegas Golden Knights, Philadelphia Flyers, and Los Angeles Kings were mentioned. The Flyers and Kings may still be a fit. He’s a year away from free agency, so the cost to acquire may be a little lower if a team may only get him for a year.
Are the St. Louis Blues Interested in Elias Pettersson?
A comparable could be when the Detroit Red Wings traded Filip Hronek to the Vancouver Canucks for a first (No. 17) and second-round pick. Jakob Chychrun, with two years left, went for a first and two second-round picks.
The Penguins have draft picks if the Sabres are interested in that, or they could offer a usable forward, either veteran or prospect, and the pick.
