Alexi Lalas has been one of the most polarising pundits at the World Cup this summer. The former America international has been paired with Thierry Henry and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has wasted no time letting the world know what he really thinks of his fellow pundit.
The former defender made 95 appearances for America, but hasn’t enjoyed the same type of success in the studio, with many accusing him of inadvertently pushing Henry and Zlatan’s buttons.
It didn’t take long for Lalas to go viral during Fox’s coverage, either. He called famous British presenter James Cordon a “full kit w***er” on just his second day of the World Cup and has stolen the headlines for the wrong reasons ever since.
Since then, Zlatan has taken it upon himself to silence Lalas, hitting back at his claim that France were arrogant in their victory over Senegal in their first World Cup group game.
“It’s not arrogance, it’s confidence. Ignorant people will say it’s arrogance, intelligent people will say it’s confidence.” – Zlatan
The former AC Milan striker has only continued to aim digs at the pundit ever since and when Lalas was not in the studio last week, he told the cameras: “America, you are welcome”.
A few days away seemed to hand Lalas some time to find some ammunition, however. When Henry, Zlatan and the former defender reunited, he finally one-upped his newfound foe, leaving Henry in stitches.

Lalas gets own back on Zlatan with “Fantasy Island” dig
Zlatan welcomed Lalas back to the studio by telling presenter Rebecca Lowe: “Rebecca, you’re dressed up like you’re going to a funeral. Alexi is alive, don’t worry.”
It looked likely to be another victory for the Swede in the back and forth, before Lalas left Henry in stitches with a hilarious response, claiming that Zlatan was dressed for “Fantasy Island”.
Fantasy Island is an old American television series from the late 1970s and early 1980s, which featured two main characters, Mr. Roarke and Tattoo in white suits.
Whilst Lalas finally got his own back, Zlatan rarely takes defeat easily and will undoubtedly continue what has been an entertaining back and forth as Fox’s World Cup coverage continues.
