Newcastle United are desperately looking to break out of the transfer Groundhog Day that they find themselves in, with Sandro Tonali likely to be the next name heading for the exit door.
Big-name departures have become the story of Eddie Howe‘s life over the last 12 months. First, it was Alexander Isak who swapped St James’ Park for Liverpool for a Premier League record fee. Since then, Anthony Gordon has also called it quits, joining Barcelona in a move worth £69m.

Now, Tonali looks destined to be next with Tottenham Hotspur eyeing up an improved offer after seeing their initial £75m bid turned down. Newcastle are looking for £100m to sell the Italian and the writing will be on the wall if any potential suitor matches that asking price.
Losing big-name stars hasn’t been the only problem for the Magpies in recent times, however. They’ve also struggled to find replacements and that’s something they must solve this summer.
Better than Munoz: Newcastle in fresh talks to sign £51m winger
Newcastle are hoping to put their failure to sign Victor Munoz behind them.
Having already missed out on their top target to replace Gordon in Victor Munoz, those on Tyneside are now ready to push ahead and land an excellent Tonali replacement.

Newcastle receive green light to sign midfield star
Although names like Kees Smit have been mentioned as potential Tonali replacements, one name stands out more than others. According to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, Newcastle are ready to move ASAP to sign Lamine Camara from AS Monaco if Tonali completes a move away this summer.
The French club have green-lit Camara’s departure on the condition that they receive the right offer, and Newcastle should have no problem reaching a hefty asking price if they receive £100m to sell their current star in the coming months. Indeed, in recent months, he has valued as highly as £65m.
Dubbed “excellent” by scout Jacek Kulig, Camara has looked on the cusp of a big move for some time and could finally get it courtesy of Newcastle this summer. The Magpies would be landing a 22-year-old star capable of dominating in the middle of the park and someone who could even exceed Tonali.
