After a season of struggle in the Premier League last term, the Liverpool faithful are once again preparing for a new era under different management at Anfield.
Arne Slot was handed his marching orders just a couple of months ago, subsequently leading to Andoni Iraola’s appointment as the Reds’ new boss until the summer of 2028.
The Spaniard has been tasked with leading the club back to top-flight glory, but he will no doubt require funds from the hierarchy to help him in his quest on Merseyside.
Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz have already put pen to paper over moves to Anfield, but there’s likely to be added movement in and out of the door in the months ahead.
The hierarchy are said to be working tirelessly to hand Iraola the additions he needs this summer – which could see the Reds spend a small fortune once again.
Liverpool in discussions over record-breaking summer transfer
The attacking department is an area that looks set to be improved massively at Liverpool this summer – subsequently building on the aforementioned deal for Spanish star, Munoz.
PSG winger Bradley Barcola has consistently been mentioned as one potential transfer target, with the Frenchman a player who could star at Anfield for many years to come.
However, Luis Enrique’s men are reluctant to offload the 23-year-old and are said to be demanding upwards of £110m to part ways with the young attacking talent.
Barcola isn’t the only forward option in the Reds’ sights at present, with Aston Villa winger Morgan Rogers also appearing on their radar over recent days.
According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool have spoken to Aston Villa and asked to be kept informed about the player’s availability amid a potential departure from the West Midlands this summer.
The report also states that Arsenal are another club eyeing the England international and could be seen as the side best placed to secure his signature ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
However, any deal would cost a pretty penny this window, as Unai Emery’s side are demanding a fee higher than Elliot Anderson’s £116m move to set a new English record.
Why Rogers would be a better signing than Diomande for Liverpool
Mohamed Salah’s departure from Liverpool this summer has only heightened the need for added attacking reinforcements ahead of Iraola’s first campaign in charge.
Yan Diomande appeared to be the Reds’ number one target at one stage, with the hierarchy even being willing to splash upwards of £100m on the RB Leipzig youngster.
The Ivorian enjoyed a phenomenal breakthrough campaign last term, subsequently ending his first season in the Bundesliga with 12 goals and eight assists.
However, in recent weeks, the 19-year-old has stated that he’s not interested in a move to Merseyside this summer after hearing of interest from Champions League winners, PSG.

Missing out on Diomande to the French outfit would undoubtedly be a bitter blow for Iraola and the hierarchy, considering the amount of work put in to secure his services.
It could prove to be a blessing in disguise, especially if the Reds can secure a move for Rogers this summer – with the Englishman a player who already possesses key top-flight experience.
The 23-year-old also managed to outperform the Leipzig star in key areas – which undoubtedly makes him a bigger talent for Iraola’s side ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
Rogers, who’s been dubbed “incredible” by teammate Matty Cash, ended the season with 25 combined goals and assists in all competitions – a tally higher than that of Diomande.
Such a tally, coupled with his higher shot-on-target accuracy rate and tally of 0.3 goals per 90, undoubtedly makes him a bigger all-round threat within attacking areas.
Even without the ball, the Villa attacker has dominated – subsequently winning more aerial duels and winning possession back in the final third more times per 90.
The latter of the aforementioned figures is vital to Iraola’s system, with the Spaniard likely to demand high-intensity pressure without the ball during his time at Anfield.
£130m would be a mind-boggling amount of money for Rogers’ signature, but it is a move which could hand Liverpool a long-term solution to their issues within attacking areas.
Whilst Diomande may still remain as many of the fans’ first choice this summer, a move for the Villa star could be the right call if the club are to mount a Premier League title push once more next term.
