Ipswich Town and Coventry City will be desperate to repeat last season’s heroics from Leeds United and Sunderland. The latter two provided the blueprints for survival which have been missing for quite some time and, so far, only Ipswich have followed it.

The Tractor Boys are backing Gary O’Neill in full, signing Daizen Maeda, Issa Diop, Abdul Fatwau and splashing out a record fee to welcome striker Emersonn.

Coventry have been a tad slower out the blocks, but all could change courtesy of Chelsea. The future of young forward Marc Guiu has taken centre-stage once again this summer, with a huge race errupting between the Sky Blues and relegation rivals Ipswich.

The race to sign Marc Guiu

Coventry City

Guiu will cost a club-record fee for Coventry this summer, but there’s no time like the present to splash the cash in the Premier League. It would come as no surprise if the Sky Blues spent big on a Chelsea starlet, given that Frank Lampard will be waiting with open arms.

Ipswich Town

Ipswich are in a less urgent position. They’ve already reinforced their attack and Guiu would be more of a luxury signing at this stage. If they are to avoid relegation, then they should focus on other areas with Maeda and Emersonn already on their way.

Guiu’s next move is one that he must get right. He was left watching on from tbe bench at Chelsea last season after they recalled him early from his loan spell at Sunderland. Before he could even get two games under his belt, the forward was back at Stamford Bridge.

Now it looks likely that a permanent move will take place for a hefty fee. Whether Ipswich or Coventry pay that fee is the big question.

Ipswich and Coventry learn Chelsea’s Marc Guiu stance

According to The Chelsea Chronicle, Ipswich and Coventry have been gifted the green light to sign Guiu from Chelsea this summer. The Blues have set a stunning £25m asking price, which would break Coventry’s current club-record. Whether the promoted clubs pay such a price for an unproven star remains to be seen.

As things stand, the two sides sit in pole position to secure the Spaniard’s signature, but are also joined by Sevilla and Real Sociedad in a huge transfer race.

The 20-year-old is quickly emerging as one to watch as he looks to finally secure some much-needed game-time.

Ipswich race to sign Yunus Musah

The Tractor Boys are out to make a statement this summer. They’ve already welcomed a number of new stars and are now in the race to sign Yunus Musah.

The Suffolk-based club are racing Leeds United to secure the versatile AC Milan star in what would be an excellent addition. Add the American alongside Guiu and Ipswich’s chances of survival will undoubtedly increase.
