There is some major breaking news surrounding the recruitment of Miami (Fla.) Columbus five-star athlete A’mir Sears, the No. 1 player in the country for the 2028 class. The 6-1, 178-pounder is an elite talent with every major offer from across the country, and he is making some huge decisions regarding his future.
Sears has informed 247Sports that he is reclassifying to the 2027 class. He and those in his circle have decided to move up his recruitment a year early. In addition, the expectation is that he will set himself up to enroll early at the school of his choice in December following what will now be his senior year.
Regarding that landing spot, Sears is ready to make his college commitment. He has narrowed his recruitment to a select number of finalists, but that will be revealed right before he makes his commitment. His most recent trimmed list included Auburn, Florida, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Syracuse, and Texas A&M, and he will announce his commitment live on the CBS Sports College Football YouTube Channel and CBS Sports HQ on Friday, July 31, at 5 pm ET.
